ALICIA GUO Alicia

a website is a home (constantly changing)

Hi, I'm Alicia!

I'm a computational artist, poet, and HCI researcher researching how we can imagine and redesign our relationships with creative technology. I'm currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Washington, working in creativity support tools, the processes behind creative uses of AI, and how technology can empower artists and creative collaboration.

My research is rooted in my art and writing practice, where I create computational art and poetic instruments that invite participation: artifacts that create artifacts that create artifacts. My work treats computation as a medium for noticing, software that can be visited and revisited, that changes and decays, and as a means for creating new processes.

Currently researching:

  • tools for writers to train and govern their own language models
  • interfaces for collective writing and shared meaning making
  • physically manifested poetry
  • process as an artistic medium

If anything catches your eye, feel free to say hi! :) I'm always looking for more friends to jam on art and research experiments together.

A NOTE ABOUT THIS SITE...

A website is a home (that is constantly changing).

This site is a temporary dwelling for 2026, a pit stop between the past version and the next, and will most likely last no longer than a few months (the shortest stint yet). Most items will probably not even be unboxed (look in basement), yet there are still bits of me left in all corners.
